Abstract Details

Purpose:

to evaluate 8 month refractive results after LASIK and PRK performed with a new Microscan 500 Hz excimer laser guided by wave front, connected to L 80 Wave Visionix aberrometer versus the same procedure excluding aberrometry exams download in laser surgical map calculation

Setting:

International Center for Ophthalmology, Moscow, Russia

Methods:

study included 44 eyes of 22 patients with myopia from -1.0 D to -9.0 D and astigmatism from -0.5 D to -3.5 D after Lasik procedure, assisted with Morea Evolution IIIE microkeratome for flap creation of 100 (40 eyes) and 130 ( 4 eyes ) mk thickness. Average age was 36 y.o. 4 eyes of 3 patients ( 1 eye with astigmatism 6.0 D after previous PKP; 1 eye with refractive error +4.5 after extracapsular cataract extraction and 2 eyes with flap complication-desepitalisation in previous LASIK attempt) underwent PRK. Standard pre op examination: BCVA,BUCVA, autorefractometry, cicloplegic refractometry, IOP measurement, AXL with IOL-master, pupil size measurement in light and dark condition, topography, pachimetry map and aberrometry with Visionix L80 Wave Front (Lineau) was performed. “Platoscan”TM - special device to transform wave front( polynoms Zernike ) from aberrometer to laser surgery calculated map was used. In 3 cases surgery map was calculated without use of aberrometry data.

Results:

All patients have achieved desired refractive target. In case of Lasik the best result of UDVA post op was gained in group with mild myopia : 15/20 ( 14 eyes); 20/20 UDVA was gained by groups with advanced (16 eyes) and high (8 eyes) myopia ). 40/20 UDVA was gained in group with myopia and astigmatism (6 eyes ). Average 50/20 UDVA was gained after PRK. Complications: in two eyes with steep (K 45.00 ) and flat ( K 40.00 ) corneas epithelial damage with no flap creation postpone the surgery. 2 patients reported about “dry eye” post op., no serious complication post op.

Conclusions:

Customised LASIK and PRL performed with Microscan 500 Hz excimer laser (NanoVision Group,Russia) connected to L80 Wave( Visionix Luneau, France) aberrometer showes high UDVA, efficacy, safety, predictability and stability of refractive results. 2.Using new Microscan 500 Hz excimer laser (NanoVision Group,Russia) connected to L80 Wave ( Visionix Luneau France) aberrometer with PlatoscanTM we achieved high accuracy of calculations as compared with manual calculation
