Abstract Details

Purpose:

We present a free-floating anterior chamber cyst following cataract surgery in a 69 years old woman who underwent uneventful phacoemulsification surgery in her right eye.

Setting:

Atagoz Eye Hospital, izmir, Turkey T

Methods:

he best-corrected visual acuity one month after surgery was noted 20/20 OD. Three years later, she noted the onset of intermittent nonspecific blurred vision and pain in her right eye. Slit lamp examination showed a round, free-floating, clear cyst (2–3 mm in diameter) and stromal corneal edema in the upper half. The other ocular findings were in normal limits. The cyst was removed through a limbal incision in the operating room.

Results:

On pathological examination it is determined as simple epithelial cyst including the non-keratinised squamous epithelium. After 3 months she had no pain or blurred vision, also slit lamp examination was totally normal.

Conclusions:

Anterior chamber epithelial cysts can be managed operatively with good results.
