Abstract Details

Purpose:

Comparison of depth in two trifocal intraocular lenses using an optical bench and defocus curves.

Setting:

Medical University Vienna

Methods:

The AT LISA tri (Carl Zeiss Meditec) and Finevision (PhysIOL) lens types were examined. An optical bench with a spherical aberration of 0,26 µm of the cornea, a pupil diameter of 4,7 mm was used to determine the „Trough Focus Response“ curves. Furthermore the defocus curves with best distance correction from 0 D to 3,5 D in 0,25 D increments have been evaluated in 15 patients with an AT LISA tri in one eye and a Finevision in the other eye.

Results:

The „Trough Focus Response“ curves reveals three strictly separated focal poinst for the AT Lisa tri whereas the Finvision shows a broad distance focal point a near focal point of lower light intensity. The defocus corves will be presented in overlapping diagrams.

Conclusions:

The AT LISA tri (Carl Zeiss Meditec) divides the incident light in two 3 well separated focal points. The Finevision (PhysIOL) creates a broad distance focus and a separated near focus.
