Abstract Details

Purpose:

To assess enhancement in pseudophakia by Supracor algorithm with excimerlaser regarding the clinical outcome and patient satisfaction

Setting:

Swiss Eye Research Foundation, ORASIS Eye Clinic, Reinach AG, Switzerland

Methods:

Performance of the multifocal presbyopic algorithm is evaluated prospective in 28 cases, after primary cataract surgery and implantation of monofocal IOL, regarding the clinical outcome and patient satisfaction. For the LASIK cut a high repetition rate femtosecond laser were used with a target flap thickness of 110μm. All patients were myopic and minimum 50 years old.

Results:

The preoperative mean spherical equivalent was -1.25D and the mean UCDVA (uncorrected distance visual acuity) 0.26 and UCNVA (uncorrected near visual acuity) 0.42. After 6 months of treatment the mean UCDVA increases at 0.96 and UCNVA at 0.81. After 6 month the subjective overall vision compared with preoperative were same in 7.1% and better in 92.9%.

Conclusions:

The multifocal corneal procedure is a very good enhancement tool for pseudophakia regarding presbyopic treatment which leads to highly predictable results.
