Abstract Details

Purpose:

To report the rate of complete capsulotomies without tags using the Optimedica Catalys femtosecond laser cataract platform.

Setting:

Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK.

Methods:

Consecutive case series of 590 femtosecond laser capsulotomies performed between January 2013 and March 2014. The Catalys laser platform was used for anterior capsulotomy, lens fragmentation and astigmatic keratotomy (later if requried). The software version for the Optimedica Catalys platform was version 2.20 for all treatments.

Results:

A complete capsulotomy without any tags was achieved in 590/591 cases (99.8%, 95% confidence interval 99.0-100.0%). In the single case where the capsulotomy was incomplete, this was due to the procedure being aborted during capsulotomy laser delivery.

Conclusions:

A high rate of complete capsulotomies without any tags was achieved using the Optimedica Catalys platform.
