Abstract Details
Purpose:
To assess the efficacy, safety and predictability of Femto LASIK procedure with the all solid-state laser for refractive surgery.
Setting:
Memira Group Centre for Refractive Surgery, Uppsala, Sweden
Methods:
Thirty-eight eyes of 21 patients who undergone Femto LASIK were examined in this retrospective study. The patient’s age ranged from 21 to 52 years (mean 36,4 ±8,63). Femto Lasik procedure was done using Ziemer LDV femtosecond laser for the flap creation, while the refractive ablation was performed with Laser Soft, all solid-state laser (Katana Technologies, Germany). The main outcome measures were UCVA, BCVA, and spherical equivalent refraction. The follow up period was of 3 months.
Results:
The mean SE changed from -2,49 D (range from -0,13 to -6,88) to -0,21 D (range from 0,38 to-2) after 3 months. Mean preoperative BCVA was 1,27 and it was 1,29 after the treatment. 67,6% of eyes was within ± 0,25D, 81,1% was within ± 0,50D and 94,6% was within ±1D of SE refraction. Efficacy index was 0,93, safety index was 1,02 and predictability index was 1,12.
Conclusions:
To our knowledge this is the first report regarding Femto LASIK with use of the all solid-state laser for refractive procedure. Laser Soft Femto LASIK resulted as a safe and effective procedure with a very good predictability during the evaluation period.
