Abstract Details

Purpose:

To analyze in intermediate sight distances the differences between these three types of optic platform.

Setting:

Universitary Quiron Hospital of Madrid. C/Diego de Velazquez 1. 28023 Madrid

Methods:

: We Analyzed 25 cases with ATLisa Tri 839 MP (Carl Zeiss Meditec. Jena. Germany), 25 cases of Technis ZMB00 (Santa Ana, CA 92705, EEUU) and last, 25 cases with Crystalens AO, (B&L. Rochester, NY. EEUU), developing defocus curves for long, short and intermediate distances.

Results:

The results showed that the Lisa Trifocal Platform generates better visual performance in intermediate distances and with statistically significant differences, and that there were no statistically significant differences in long and short visual performance between bifocal and trifocal lenses; also, there were statistically significant differences between bifocal and trifocal lenses when compared to accommodative lenses.

Conclusions:

1.- The trifocal lens achieves a statistically significant positive performance in intermediate sight distances. 2.- With regards long distance sight, the accommodative lens performs better, although there were no statistically significant differences with bifocal and trifocal lenses. 3.- Regarding short distance sight performance, there are no statistically significant differences between the trifocal and bifocal lenses, although both are better than accommodative lenses, the difference being statistically significant.
