Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare visual outcomes of two posterior chamber Phakic intraocular lenses (PCPIL)
Setting:
Vision Next Eye Care, Pune, India
Methods:
20 eyes of 10 patients with refractive error were included in study. Mean manifest refraction spherical equivalent (MRSE) was -13.55 ±4.15 Diopters (D).10 eyes underwent Implantable collamer lens (ICL, STAAR) implantation and 10 eyes underwent Implantable Phakic contact lens (IPCL, Care group) . The postoperative changes in visual acuity, MRSE, IOP, vault height between the two kinds of PCPIL were compared. The follow up period was 3 months.
Results:
There were no statistically significant differences in the postoperative changes of uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA, p=0.91), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA, p = 0.60), MRSE (p=0.2), IOP (p= 0.18), vault height (p=0.12) between the groups
Conclusions:
There were no significant differences between the outcomes of these PCPIL; although larger sample sized and larger follow-up studies are required to authenticate the outcomes.
