Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare the changes of vault between V4c and V4 Visian ICLTM (STAAR Surgical Company, Monrovia, CA) implanted eyes in photopic and mesopic conditions.
Setting:
Non-interventional, cross-sectional comparative observational case series.
Methods:
Sixty two eyes of 62 patients were consecutively included in this study. Fifty two eyes had V4c Visian ICLTM (V4c ICL group), and 10 controls had conventional V4 Visian ICLTM implantation (V4 ICL group). Preoperative and 1 month postoperative measurements of anterior chamber depth and pupil size using Visante optical coherence tomography (Visante OCT, Carl Zeiss Meditech AG, Jena, Germany) and anterior chamber volume using Pentacam (Oculus, Wetzlar, Germany) were done. Also refractive errors, keratometry values, axial length, intraocular pressure, central corneal thickness were recorded. Postoperative lens vault, ACD, and pupil size in scotopic and photopic light conditions were analyzed. Multiple regression analysis between lens vault and aforementioned variables was performed along with Independent t test and paired t test.
Results:
There was no significant difference in preoperative parameters between V4c and V4 ICL groups. In V4c ICL group, significant differences of vault between photopic and scotopic conditions were detected. However, in V4 ICL group, no significant difference of vault was noted. Dynamic vault changes in V4c ICL group were found to be significantly related to pupil size in photopic condition and white-to-white diameter.
Conclusions:
Compared with V4 ICL group, vault of V4c ICL group was decreased more prominently in photopic condition. Both pupil size in photopic condition and white-to-white diameter are expected to affect the changes of vault between photopic and scotopic conditions.
