Abstract Details

Purpose:

To compare the Cumulative Dissipated Energy(CDE), between Infiniti Vision System with the 800 micron Minitip and Centurion Vision System with the new Balanced tip

Setting:

Isala Clinics, Zwolle, the Netherlands

Methods:

60 cases for each group were matched for nuclear density. The Infiniti Vision System group Ultrasound(US) settings were maximized at 80% amplitude during Sculpt and Quadrant removal(QR). Vacuum setting during QR was maximum 300mm Hg. The Centurion Vision System US settings were maximized at 80% during sculpting and 65% during QR. Vacuum was set at a maximum of 550mm Hg.

Results:

Preliminary results show a 40% reduction in cumulative dissipated energy during sculpting and quadrant removal for the Centurion group.

Conclusions:

The new Balanced tips with Centurion Vision System at the employed higher Vacuum setting are significantly more energy efficient compared to Infiniti with Minitips.
