Abstract Details

Purpose:

To describe the inclusion of two patient questionnaires in Spanish and Slovakian into EUREQUO.

Setting:

Surgeons and clinics using the EUREQUO database

Methods:

Two patient-reported outcomes measures will be included in the EUREQUO: The Quality of Life Impact of Refractive Correction (QIRC) for refractive surgery and Catquest-9SF for cataract surgery. Both questionnaires are scored using Rasch analysis. Translations to eight European languages and linguistic validation studies have commenced. The translations will follow a standard procedure for patient questionnaires and validation studies for the new language versions will be performed using Rasch analysis.

Results:

Validated QIRC and Catquest-9SF questionnaires are now available in English, German, Swedish and Greek. The next two languages are Spanish and Slovakian. The validation studies in these languages has started. The technical part will be ready in 2014 and after that any surgeon affiliated to the EUREQUO can use the translated patient questionnaires when desired.

Conclusions:

Questionnaires for patient-reported outcomes for cataract and refractive surgery will be available at the EUREQUO homepage in eight different languages. Four languages are already validated for each questionnaire. Two new translations – Spanish and Slovakian - are being validated.
