Abstract Details

Purpose:

We evaluated the rotational stability and effect of astigmatic correction in eyes with toric intraocular lens (IOL) up to 1 year postoperatively.

Setting:

Prospective multicenter clinical study

Methods:

Micro-incision hydrophobic acrylic aspheric toric IOL (TC2, HOYA) was implanted in 93 eyes with the corneal astigmatism between 0.75 and 3.00 D. The changes of the IOL alignment using retro-illumination photograph and anterior optical coherence tomography, uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), manifest refraction spherical equivalent (MRSE), and manifest cylindrical power were evaluated at 1, 3, 6 months, and 1 year after the implantation.

Results:

The change of IOL alignment was 2.32±3.92˚ between 1 to 3 months, 2.12±2.06˚ between 3 to 6 months, 1.93±1.82˚ between 6 months to 1 year. At 1 year postoperatively, UDVA (logMAR) was 0.04±0.15, MRSE was -0.11±0.43 D, and manifest cylindrical power was 0.66±0.58 D, and these results did not show any significant difference with those at 1, 3, and 6 months.

Conclusions:

This toric IOL showed stable alignment after the implantation and resulted in stable refraction.
