Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate clinical outcome of refractive lens exchange with implantation of AT LISA tri toric 939MP intraocular lens (IOL) in presbyopic patients with astigmatism.
Setting:
Special Eye Hospital 'Svjetlost', Zagreb, Croatia
Methods:
Sixteen patients (32 eyes) were followed after clear lens extraction and binocular trifocal toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Uncorrected distant visual acuity (UCDVA), uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UCIVA) and uncorrected near visual acuity (UCNVA), spectacle independence, residual astigmatism, IOL misalignment and visual disturbances were measured. Follow up was at least three months.
Results:
Patients were completely free of glasses. Binocular UCDVA was 0.00 logMAR or better, monocular UCDVA 0.10 logMAR or better in all patients. Both, binocular and monocular UCIVA investigated at 80 cm was 0.20 logMAR or better and UCNVA at patient's preferred distance was 0.10 logMAR or better. IOL stability was excellent and postoperative residual astigmatism less than 0.50D. Patients reported night driving visual disturbances when asked, but were not seriously bothered by them.
Conclusions:
Trifocal toric IOL is safe, predictable and stable option for correction of combined presbyopia and astigmatism. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
