Quality of life of patients with challenging cornea wearing scleral lens

Purpose:

To assess the impact of scleral lens on quality of life ( QoL ) using the Contact Lens Impact on Quality of Life ( CLIQ ) questionnaire.

Setting:

Ibn Al Haythem Center

Methods:

86 consecutive patients with challenging cornea wearing scleral lense (MisaLens* , from Microlens*, Neetherland), at least in one eye were asked by phone to complete CLIQ questionnaire. STATA 12.1 software analysis was used.

Results:

Mean follow up: 6,04 +/- 1,71 month, mean age: 32,86 +/- 11,07 years, mean K max: 83,93+/-21,83 D, mean continuous time wear: 10,89 +/- 3,83 hours, mean log MAR with scleral lens: 0.23 +/-0.20, mean general CLIQ person measure: 43,06 +/- 1,42.

Conclusions:

Patient with challenging cornea wearing scleral lens had good quality of life. FINANCIAL INTEREST: One of more of the authors... gains financially from product or procedure presented
