Abstract Details

Purpose:

To study safety and efficacy of presbymax laser PRK in treating presbyopia.

Setting:

Dr Haifa Eye Hospital

Methods:

265 eyes of 137 patients with presbyopia ± refractive errors were included in a prospective study in Dr.Haifa Eye Hospital in Bahrain. Presbymax (Schwind eyetech-solutions, Kleinostheim, Germany) was performed on all eyes. Patients age was 49.5±4.57 years. Preoperative LogMAR uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA), corrected near visual acuity (CNVA), distance spherical equivalent (DSE) and near spherical equivalent (NSE)were 0.7±0.36, 0.01±0.04, 0.4±0.35, 0.01±0.04, 43.63±1.72D, -0.24±3.17D and 1.46±3.37D respectively. All patients completed mor 4 years follow-up.

Results:

4 years postoperatively, UDVA, CDVA, UNVA, DSE and NSE were 0.1±0.12 (p<0.05), 0.11±0.12 (p<0.05), 0.02±0.05 (p<0.05), -0.43±0.64 (p<0.05) and 0.25±0.1 (p<0.05) respectively.

Conclusions:

Presbymax is a safe and effective treatment of presbyopia with or without refractive errors. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
