Corneal inlay guidance: a comparative study of two different implants

Purpose:

Patient selección and visual outcomes analysis with Kamra and Raiindrop inlays

Setting:

Vista Gutiérrez Amoros Eye Clínic in A Coruña, Spain

Methods:

25 eyes of 25 patients are included in the study: 15 Kamra and 10 Raindrop inlays. We have used two different femtosecond láser: Ziemer Z6 and Victus workstation. Flap thickness from 150 to 200 micras was selected. Refractive defects was treated with the Z 100 excimer láser ( Technolas ). Postoperative checking included were topography, schiempflug images, anterior chamber OCT, corneal aberrometry, and more

Results:

25 presbyopic patients underwent corneal inlay surgery to restore near visión preserving distance vision. The mean follow-up was 6 months. The mean UCNV was Jaeger 3. The mean UCDV was 20/32. The recovery time either for UCNV and UCDV was better with Raindrop inlay. Reading with dim light was easier with Raindrop inlay. There was no significant differences in halos complaints. Two inlays was explanted and four of them recentered.

Conclusions:

Kamra and Raindrop corneal inlays provide safe, reversible opcion for presbyopia treatment. Patient selection is the key to success. With binocular visión, most patients are 20/25 and Jaeger 1. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
