Abstract Details
Purpose:
To review all the capsulotomies done in the period going from Nov 2010 to Nov 2011 in the Hospital del Tajo
Setting:
Hospital del Tajo, Aranjuez, Madrid, Spain.
This is a hospital that opened in April 2008 and covers a population of about 100,000 inhabitants. Since opening to the end of the studied period we realized about 1,300 catarats
Methods:
We realized capsulotomies with the YAG laser to the patients send from the general clinic to this pourpouse. We checkes pre and post visual acuity, tiem from surgery and kind of IOL iinserted.
We used mainly 3 different lenses: Baush and Lomb Akreos Mi60, PhysIOL 123 and Quatris aespheric evolutive.
Results:
We found that 33% of the cases were done at least 5 years post surgery, 21,9 % between 2 and 5 years, 28,4% between 1 and 2 years ans 8,2% before the first year.
The most experienced surgeons had less proportino of opacification thet the more inexperienced ones.
There is a clear tendency of opacification in the Quatrix aespheric evolutive lens compared withe the other 2 used
Conclusions:
Althogh all the lenses used were hidrophylic acrylic lenses, there is a clear difference in the opacification of the posterior capsule among them FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
