Abstract Details
Purpose:
To study the visual outcome and quality of vision in patients who had undergone LASER refractive surgery in one eye and implantable contact lens in other.
Setting:
vasan eye care,Coimbatore,Tamilnadu,India.
Methods:
: 22eyes of 11patients from the period of 2009 to 2012 were studied. The patients were given a self-made questionnaire and responses were registered. The contrast sensitivity test was done.
Results:
: Of these 11patients 5 were male and 6 were female. The distribution of ICL and LASIK were equal. The pre-op best corrected visual acuity was matched with unaided post-op visual acuity. The contrast sentivity was 4% with both eyes open and individual eye showed better contrast in the better bye irrespective of icl or LASER correction. The standard and quality of vision was excellent during night times, driving and watching computers .There was no significant visual disturbance reported by the patients.
Conclusions:
The satisfactory level of vision was good in these patients hence the surgery of doing one eye ICL and other eye Laser refractive surgery is a good option in patients with asymmetrical myopia. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
