Abstract Details



Purpose:

To Study the efficacy of intralesional triamcinolone acetonide injection in treatment of multiple chalazion

Setting:

It was prospective study carried out in private organisation and injection was given to all patients by single surgeon

Methods:

Hundred and four patients with mild - moderate chalazion were included in the study. All underwent single intralesional triamcinolone acetonide injection in one sitting. Patients were followed at first week, fourth week and last at twelve weeks.They were evaluated for the reduction in size and the symptoms.

Results:

Around 80% patienst showed complete resolution of the chalazion after single injection.Three patients underwent incision and curretage and rest of the patients went for second injection after 1month. At the end all patients showed complete resolution.

Conclusions:

It was seen that intralesional triamcinolone injection is effective method for treating multiple chalazion in one visit. It also prevent the trauma of multiple cuts and surgeries to the patient. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
