Avoiding diplopia after refractive or cataract surgery in patients with strabismus

Abstract Details



Purpose:

To avoid diplopia after refractive and cataract surgeries following a comprehensive protocol in patients with strabismus.

Setting:

Centro Médico Teknon, Barcelona, Spain

Methods:

40 patients with strabismus before refractive or cataract surgery. 46.8 was mean age. Optometric and sensorial evaluation, motility control and cycloplegia each 3 mounths before refractive and cataract surgery.

Results:

After strabismus surgery, there were 0.3% of endotropy, 0.4% of exotropy and 38% with orthotropy. There were 0.54% of endotropy, 0.4% with exotropy and 0.06% of orthotropy in patients with strabismus after refractive surgery or cataract surgery. There were no patients with diplopia.

Conclusions:

We have to take on mind sensory and sensitivity before refractive and cataract surgery in patients with strabismus.To avoid diplopia after refractive and cataract surgeries in patients with strabismus, we have to follow a comprehensive protocol. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
