Estimation of femtosecond lenticule extraction after automated anterior lamellar keratoplasty

Abstract Details



Purpose:

Estimation of the results of FLEx operation using VisuMax femtosecond laser (Carl Zeiss Meditec) after automated anterior lamellar keratoplasty in the eyes with myopia and myopic astigmatism.

Setting:

IRTC Eye Microsurgery Ekaterinburg Center

Methods:

The study group included 7 patients (7 eyes). In 3 cases automated anterior lamellar keratoplasty was performed for corneal opacities after keratitis, in 4 cases - for keratoconus. FLEx operation was performed in terms from 1 year to 2 years 8 months (mean, 20 months) after anterior lamellar keratoplasty and from 3 months to 1 year 11 months after corneal sutures removal (mean, 16 months).

Results:

Uncorrected visual acuity before surgery was 0.06 ± 0.07, after surgery it made 0.34 ± 0.16 (p>0.05). Spherical equivalent (SE) before surgery was -5.88 ± 3.19D, after surgery it made - 0.34 ± 1.32 D (p>0.05). Corrected visual acuity before surgery was 0.51 ± 0.1 and after surgery it made 0.54 ± 0.11 (p>0.05).

Conclusions:

The results achieved in our patients show that FLEx operation may be a method of choice for correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism after automated anterior lamellar keratoplasty. Further dynamic follow-up of these patients is required. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
