Abstract Details
Purpose:
To estimate the clinical results of refractive surgery different methods on eyes with residual refractive error after cataract surgery.
Setting:
Republican Ophthalmological center, Belarus, Minsk.
Methods:
Retrospective review of 12 eyes (7 patients)
Refractive surgery was offered to the patients to correct residual refractive error after cataract surgery
Patients were divided into 2 groups. In 1-st group (6 eyes, 3 patients) PRK in second group ( 6 eyes, 4 patients) FemtoLASIK (IntraLase&trade FS60 femtosecond laser and STAR S4 IR&trade eximer laser) was performed after cataract extraction to eliminate the residual astigmatism and spherical component. Multifocal IOL implantations were performed in both groups
Results:
All patients remained satisfied after surgical intervention. Emmetropia was achieved in 94%. Uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) 0.9-1.0 Decimal was achieved in 1st group in 43%, and in group 2 in 57% after 6 full months of the full rehabilitation period. In FemtoLASIK group patients more stable results were revealed.
Conclusions:
FemtoLASIK turned out to be clinically useful method to correct residual refractive error after cataract surgery. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
