Abstract Details

Purpose:

Evaluate best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), range of vision, and patient satisfaction with vision following bilateral implantation of ReSTOR 2.5 multifocal IOLs

Setting:

Multicentric

Methods:

53 adult patients were enrolled in the prospective study and implanted with ReSTOR 2.5 multifocal IOLs in both eyes. IOL Master, visual acuity (logMAR) and refractive data were registered preoperatively and 3 month postoperatively. BCVA was measured at 4m, intermediate (60 cm), and preferred near distances using the ETDRS logMAR chart. Photopic contrast sensitivity was measured at 3, 6, 12, and 18 cycles per degree (cpd) with and without glare and range of vision was evaluated with binocular defocus curve.

Results:

3 month postop mean (± SD) distance corrected visual acuity was -0.09±0.10, 0.13±0.15, 0.24±0.17 logMAR at distance, intermediate (60cm) and preferred near distance. Photopic contrast sensitivity was 1.1 log unit or better under glare and no glare conditions at all spatial frequencies. Binocular defocus curve with distance correction will be presented.

Conclusions:

Bilateral implantation of ReSTOR 2.5 multifocal IOL provided good visual acuity at distance, intermediate and near, and good photopic contrast sensitivity.
