Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the predictability, safety and efficacy of the AT LISA (IOL; Carl Zeiss Meditec AG) trifocal intraocular lenses (IOL) for near and distance visión with mínimum follow-up of 3 months.
Setting:
Instituto Oftalmológico Fernández-Vega. Oviedo. Spain.
Methods:
Clinic, prospective, non-randomized study that includes records from 99 eyes of 57 patients implanted with an AT LISA Trifocal IOL. 58% of the simple were females and 42% males. Mean age at the time of surgery was 57.5 ± 8.6 years (Rnge from 38 to 77) and the mean refractive error was -0.15 ± 4.01 diopters (D) (range -19.00 to +5.25). All eyes had a previous astgmatism lower than one dioptre. Near and distance visual acuity (VA) and other refractive parameters were recorded preoperatively and at three months from the surgery.
Results:
Three months after surgery the sphero-equivalent had diminished from 0.07 ± 4.00 D (range from -18.75 to +5.75) to 0.02 ± 0.29 D (range from de -1.00 tp 0.75), where more than 80% of the eyes were in ± 0.25 D and 95% of the eyes were in ±0.50 (r2=0.99). The VA with distance correction (DCVA) was 0.95 ± 0.11. 70 eyes (71%) had a DCVA equal to or greater than 1.0 and 98 eyes (99%) equal to or greater than 0.5. The safety index calculated at three months was 1.1 ± 0.14. regarding the near vison, both the monocular uncorrected distance visual aquity (UDVA) and monocular DVCA were satisfactory, being their means 0.73 ± 0.19 and 0.74 ± 0.22 respectively. Those results were even better at the binocular evaluation with a mean of 0.89± 0.22 and 0.92 ± 0.21 respectively with and without correction. None of the eyes lost more than a line of DCVA, 13 eyes (13.1%) lost one line and 35 eyes (35%) gained at least 1 line. No intraoperative complications were reported.
Conclusions:
The predictability, safety and effeLos resultados de predictibilidad, seguridad y effectiveness of the Trifocal AT LISA lens were good in distance and near vision during the follow-up. These results suggest that the lens is a good choice for lensectomy programmed with refractive purpose. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
