Abstract Details

Purpose:

In this study, we report two cases with post-phacoemulsification descemet`s membrane detachment diagnosed with a retinal optical coherence tomography (OCT).

Setting:

Turkey at Gulhane Military Medical Academy Hospital

Methods:

Retinal OCT confirmed the diagnosis of suspected descemet`s membrane detachment in both patients without using any additional software update. To image the cornea, the focusing system of the Stratus OCT was defocused close to the maximum level. While the patient was looking at the external fixation point the images were acquired at the area of the corneal edema with the X-line algorithm of the system.

Results:

The first patient was managed with sterile air pneumatic descemetopexy. Descemet`s membrane detachment in the second patient resolved without any treatment in 1 month.

Conclusions:

As a conclusion, Stratus OCT can be used to make or confirm the diagnosis of descemet`s membrane detachment, if anterior segment OCT systems are not available. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
