Abstract Details
Purpose:
This is a procedure to study the combination effect of:
Non penetrating glaucoma surgery (Viscocanalostomy) and Transcilliary Filtration (TCF) .
Setting:
Magrabi Eye & Ear Center
RIYADH
KSA
Methods:
Standard viscocanalostomy is done. Transcilliary Filtration (TCF) is done 1 mm from Schlemm's canal using Fugo Blade 100 micron filament to achieve microfiltration through the posterior chamber Twenty-seven eyes of twenty-five patients with medically uncontrolled open-angle glaucoma were enrolled in this study VC+TCF was performed in 13 eyes, while VC alone was performed in 14 eyes. The mean preoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) was 32.08 mm Hg The patients were followed up for 6months- 4 years.
Results:
Twenty-seven eyes of twenty-five patients with medically uncontrolled open-angle glaucoma were enrolled in this study VC+TCF was performed in 13 eyes, while VC alone was performed in 14 eyes. The mean preoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) was 32.08 mm Hg The patients were followed up for 6 months-4 years.
Combined Viscocanalostomy And Transcilliary Filtration is a safe procedure keeping the advantage of non penetrating glaucoma surgery and augmenting its intraocular pressure lowering effect avoiding the complication of classic glaucoma surgery.
Conclusions:
Safe technique in managing glaucoma with high success rate and better visual rehabilitation and good target intraocular pressure in short term follow up FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
