Abstract Details
Purpose:
Comparative analysis of the surgical treatment effectiveness of refractive errors using different techniques of forming the corneal flap
Setting:
Ufa Eye Research Institute
Methods:
We carried out a surgical treatment in 84 patients (168 eyes) with the spherical myopia on the Excimer Laser System Tecnolas 217Z100P (Germany). Follow-up was 6 ± 1,5 months . The average age of patients in both groups was 31,34 ± 0,85 years. Preoperative corrected visual acuity in all patients was 1.0. Patients were divided into two groups:
Group 1 - 42 patients (84 eyes) with myopia -3,48 ± 0,17 D, laser system «VICTUS Femtosecond Laser Platform» Bausch & Lomb, was used for the formation of the corneal flap.
Group 2 - 42 patients (84 eyes) with myopia -3,47 ± 0,14 D, mechanical microkeratome «Zyoptix XP» company Bausch & Lomb, was used for the formation of the corneal flap.
Results:
In the 1st group 3 months after surgery postoperative refraction deviation was from the calculated range from -0,5 D overcorrection up to +0,25 D overcorrection (average -0,03 ± 0,01). In the 2nd group, the deviation from the calculated postoperative refraction ranged from -0,75 D overcorrection up to +0,5 D overcorrection (average -0,01 ± 0,01). In the 1st group the refraction within ± 1,00 D of emmetropia was achieved in 100% of cases , in the 2nd group the refraction deviation over ± 1,00 D of emmetropia was observed in 3% .
Conclusions:
Performing correction of vision in patients with spherical myopia using different techniques of forming the corneal flap is an effective method for achieving stable postoperative results. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
