Abstract Details
Purpose:
to assess changes in both corneal hysteresis (CH) and corneal resistence factor (CRF) measured by ocular response analyzer (ORA) after combined femtosecond laser assisted ICR implantation and corneal cross linking in keratoconus patients
Setting:
Roaya eye center,Alexandria ,Egypt
Methods:
a prospective case series of 30 patients having moderate progressive keratoconus grade 2 and 3 who had combined femtosecond laser assisted ICR implantation and corneal cross linking during years 2012 and 2013 and followed up at least for 6 months.ORA was done in all cases before the procedure and at 1st and 6th months postoperatively
Results:
mean preoperative CH and CRF were 5.5 and 6.1 respectively .at one month CH mean was 7.3 while CRF mean was 7 .at 6th month mean CH became 9.1 while CRF was 8.1 statistically significant improvement occured after the procedure(p value lessthan 0.001)and between early and late postoperative follow up(p value less than0.001)
Conclusions:
combined femtosecond laser assisted ICR implantation and corneal cross linking improve corneal biomechanics FINANCIAL INTEREST: One of more of the authors... receives consulting fees, retainer, or contract payments from a competing company
