Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate functional results of MyoRing implantation for keratoconus.
Setting:
Ufa Eye Research Institute, Ufa, Russia.
Methods:
The corneal MyoRing implantation was performed in 54 patients (58 eyes) with progressive keratoconus. MyoRings were
implanted using a Pocketmaker microkeratome. Uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), corrected
distance visual acuity (CDVA), spherical equivalent (SE) and mean
keratometry value was assessed. The mean follow-up was 37,5±1,7
months.
Results:
UDVA increased from 0,11±0,02 to 0,47±0,05, immediately after
the operation and remain stable the follow-up period. CDVA changed
from 0,34±0,05 to 0,6±0,2 after the surgery. The mean K value decreased from 49,70±1,05 D to 39,95±0,77 1 month after operation, and remain stable. The corneal astigmatism decreased from 4,94±0,7 D to 2,66±0,33 D 12 months after surgery.SE decreased from 8,36±0,8 to 2,37 D±0,68 D.
Conclusions:
Intrastromal corneal MyoRings is effective method for keratoconus treatment, which allows to correct the keratoconus followed ametropia and gives stable results. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
