Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the refractive outcomes (refractive spherical equivalent) in patients who underwent Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK-S) combined with cataract extraction in one step surgery for treatment of Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy and cataract.
Setting:
Ophthalmology Department University Hospital Kralovske Vinohrady
Methods:
Retrospective review of 40 eyes of 32 patients was performed. All patients were examined with optical biometry (IOL Master, Zeiss), SRK/T formula was used for IOL calculation. Following parameters were evaluated: spherical equivalent (SE) preoperatively and difference of target SE and SE achieved 6 months, 12 months postoperatively.
Results:
Average preoperative SE was -0,22 D ± 3,11, mean difference of postoperative SE compared to expected SE was 0,78 D ± 1,11 in 6th month follow up and 0,89 D ± 1,06 in 12th month follow up.
Conclusions:
Our results show slight hyperopic shift of achieved postoperative refraction compared to preoperatively calculated target refraction. Based on these results we target our preoperative calculation to mild myopia to achieve emetropia in patients undergoing triple procedure. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
