Pre-Descemet's endothelial keratoplasty (PDEK)
Poster Details

Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate a new technique of endothelial keratoplasty by including the Pre-Descemet's layer with the Descemet's membrane and endothelium
Setting:
Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital and Eye Research Centre
Methods:
The PDEK graft was prepared by creating a Type I Big bubble on a donor corneo-scleral rim. The host bed was prepared by performing a Descemetorhexis. The PDEK graft was injected into the anterior chamber, oriented, unrolled and floated up.
Results:
7 eyes of 7 patients underwent PDEK. Intra-operative advantages included ease in preparing graft and increased resistance to tearing of graft. Post-operatively, there was an improvement in CDVA of patients and a decrease in Central corneal thickness. The graft thickness decreased fro post-operative day 1 onwards
Conclusions:
PDEK is a new technique for endothelial keratoplasty and early results are encouraging. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
