Indication of keratoplasty in east Libya

Abstract Details



Purpose:

To determine the indications for penetrating and deep lamellar Keratoplasty at the Benghazi eye hospital (referral center), over 6 years period.

Setting:

Prospective study

Methods:

Records of all patients who underwent Keratoplasty at our hospital between 2007and 2012 .The total number of cases 200 eyes, the data analysis was prospective . Age, gender, clinical indications and evaluation preoperative and post operative and follow-up in our hospital

Results:

keratoconus was the most common indication, accounting for 92%of all cases. Rejected graft (2.5%%), corneal opacities (2%), pseudophakic bullous keratopathy (2%), corneal dystrophy(1.5%)

Conclusions:

keratoconus the leading indication for Keratoplasty east of Libya FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
