Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the repeatability of corneal wavefront aberrations using a dual Scheimpflug analyzer (Galilei, Zeimer Group) in normal and keratoconic eyes
Setting:
Turgut Ozal University Hospital, Ankara, Turkey
Methods:
Three repeated consecutive measurements were taken by the same examiner to assess the repeatability. The following were evaluated: The following values were recorded with a 6.0 mm pupil: individual Zernike coefficient for terms in the 3rd and 4th orders; root-mean-square (RMS) for the 3rd-, 4th-, 5th-, and 6th-orders; and total higher-order RMS. Repeatability was assessed by calculating the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC)
Results:
The study enrolled 25 normal and 25 keratoconic subjects. In normal corneas, all measurements showed excellent ICC results ((ICC > 0.90). Regarding the keratoconic eyes, excellent ICC results (ICC > 0.90) were achieved for all measured parameters, only the exception of vertical tetrafoil, horizontal tetrafoil and RMS 6th-orders (ICC was 0.54, 0.57 and 0.48, respectively)
Conclusions:
The repeatability of corneal aberrometric measurements with the Dual Scheimpflug - Placido system was excellent in normal eyes. Most of the aberrometric measurements also showed acceptable repeatability in keratoconus except the vertical, horizontal tetrafoil and RMS 6th-orders FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
