Anterior segment OCT findings in case with mucopolysaccharoidoses

Abstract Details



Purpose:

To record the corneal and anterior chamber angle abnormalities using anterior segment optical coherence tomography in a patient with mucopolysaccharidoses.

Setting:

Examination of cornea & anterior chamber angle using Spectral domain anterior segment optical coherence tomography in patient with mucopolysaccharidoses.

Methods:

Spectral domain anterior segment optical coherence tomography was used to evaluate the corneal thickness, corneal abnormalities & anterior chamber angle in a six-year-old girl with mucopolysaccharidoses. The patient has coarse facial features, skeletal deformities, carpal tunnel syndrome, mitral valve regurge and corneal cloudiness. Slit lamp examination of the cornea showed ground glass appearance with diffuse deposits in the stroma. No retinal or optic nerve head abnormalities detected.

Results:

Highly reflective plaques at the outer half of central part of corneal stroma where detected with adjacent low reflectivity. Narrow anterior chamber angle is another finding in this case with mucopolysaccharidoses.

Conclusions:

Evaluation of structural changes of the cornea of mucopolysaccharidoses patient using OCT might be of value in localizing the site of corneal pathology and type of glaucoma in mucopolysaccharidoses FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
