Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the Outcomes after Phacoemulsification in cases of traumatic cataract with preexisting posterior capsule tear
Setting:
D D Eye Institute , Kota (R.J.) -India
Methods:
31 eyes of 31 patients were operated over a period of 6 years. In all the cases phacoemulsification was done. Ant vitrectomy was done in all the cases. A 3 piece IOL was placed in the sulcus in 25 patients. In remaining cases scleral fixated and Glued IOL's were implanted after one month of primary surgery.
Results:
All the patients achieved Vision ranging from 20/400 to 20/20. None of the patients developed secondary glaucoma or tractional retinal detachment. Pars plans vitrectomy wasn't required in any case.
Conclusions:
Patients of traumatic cataract with PC rupture also do have a good visual outcome and can be very well managed by anterior segment surgeons. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
