Abstract Details
Purpose:
we present a young female patient with Marfan's syndrome and bilateral ectopia lentis who underwent surgery for her left eye and developed acute uveal effusion with hypermetropic refraction that was limited to the posterior pole.
Setting:
Istanbul Hospital, Department of Ophthalmology.
Methods:
The patient with Marfan's syndrome and concomitant bilateral ectopia lentis was admitted for surgery on her left eye.
Results:
Left lensectomy, anterior vitrectomy and intraocular lens implantation using scleral fixation were applied..On post-operation day one , we performed a fundoscopy and detected shallow posterior uveal effusion that did not include peripheral retina.
Conclusions:
Acute hyperopic shift indicates posterior uveal effusion syndrome. Monitoring axial length, refractive changes and fundus imaging and proper treatment were planned for follow-up. It is considered as Marfan's syndrome might be the predisposing factor for uveal effusion. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
