Abstract Details
Purpose:
To describe rare case of Frank Kamenetsky syndrome in an adult patient succesfully operated with use of combined technique (phaco- procedure and 'Ex-Press' glaucoma filtration device implantation.
Setting:
Eye microsurgery clinic 'Vash Zir', Chernivtsi, Ukraine.
Methods:
A 47-year old man with bilateral medically uncontrolled glaucoma and complicated cataract turned to Eye microsurgery clinic for surgical treatment. Diagnosis of Frank Kamenetsky syndrome was verified by specific changes of iris, angle of anterior chamber and OCT-images. The patient underwent ultrasound phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation combined with 'Ex-Press' glaucoma filtration device implantation in both eyes.
Results:
We observed no intra- and postsurgical complications. BCVA was 20/25 after surgery, IOP remained between 12 and 15 mm hg in both eyes in 6 months postsurgically.
Conclusions:
Usage of 'Ex-Press' glaucoma filtration device demonstrates stable long-term results in combined cataract-glaucoma surgery in patients with Frank Kamenetsky syndrome. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
