Abstract Details

Purpose:

One of the main reasons for an unsatisfactory result after diffractive IOL implantation in the lens surgery is the lack of a good intermediate vision. The trifocal AT LISA tri 839MP IOL is a diffractive IOL with addition of +3,33 for near vision and +1,66 for intermediate vision. This IOL has been designed to achieve complete glasses independence in near as well as in intermediate vision

Setting:

Instituto de Oftalmología La Arruzafa. Córdoba. Spain

Methods:

We retrospectively studied the visual results in 38 eyes (19 patients: 12 women and 7 men); mean age was 62 ± 14 years old (44-78). 13 suffered cataract and 6 was operated due to refractive purposes. All of them received phacoemulsification plus IOL implantation with the Infiniti Vision System (Alcon). The mean power of the IOL was 24 ± 3,5 dioptres (19-30). Postoperative results were analyzed one month after the surgery in the second eye. Preoperative data recorder was: corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA-pre), sphere (Sph-pre), refractive astigmatism (Cyl-pre) and spherical equivalent (EE-pre). Postoperative monocular data recorded was: uncorrected distance visual acuity (UCDVA-post), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA-post), uncorrected near visual acuity (UCNVA-post), sphere (Sph-post), refractive astigmatism (Cyl-post), and spherical equivalent (EE-post). Postoperative binocular data recorded was: uncorrected distance visual acuity (UCDVA-BV-post), uncorrected near visual acuity (UCNVA-BV-post) and uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UCIVA-VB-post)

Results:

No adverse events were recorded during surgery or in the postoperative period. CDVA-pre was 0,82 ± 0,14 and CDVA-post was 0,88 ± 0,21. Sph-pre was 1,97 ± 8,13 and Sph-post was 0,11 ± 0,71 (p<0,01). Cyl-pre was 0,59 ± 0,53 and Cyl-post was 0,32 ± 1,06. EE-pre was 1,68 ± 7,87 and EE-post was -0,04 ± 0,17 (p<0,05). UCDVA-post was 0,81 ± 0,42 and UCNVA-post was 0,92 ± 0,71. Binocular results were: UCDVA-BV-post: 0,95 ± 0,28; UCNVA-BV-post: 0,98 ± 0,71; UCIVA-VB-post: 0,97 ± 0,28

Conclusions:

The trifocal AT LISA tri 839MP IOL shows an excellent safe and efficacy index for distance, intermediate and near vision FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
