Abstract Details
Purpose:
To assess astigmatic reduction of Rayner T-flex toric intraocular lenses (IOL) in a series of cataract and refractive surgery patients with corneal astigmatism.
Setting:
Charles University, Dept. Ophthalmology, Hradec Králové, Czech Republic
Methods:
This retrospective study includes 18 eyes, 11 patients, with mean pre-operative corneal astigmatism -1,69±1,14 (-0,82D to -5,72D)D in which Rayner T-flex toric IOL was implantated after phacoemulsification. Mean IOL sphere power was 18,4±7,21 (8,0 - 29,0)D. Uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), best corrected distance visual acuity (BCDVA), residual refractive sphere and residual refractive cylinder were measured one month after surgery.
Results:
Mean UDVA 1 months after surgery was 0.94±0.34D and mean BCDVA was 1,0±0.20D. Target refraction in 2 high myopic eyes was -2D. Mean refractive postoperative sphere was -0,15±0.86D and mean refractive postoperative cylinder was -0,06±0.21D.
Rayner® T-flex &trade623T PRM +11,5Dsf /+8,5Dcyl was implanted in a forty year old patient who underwent cataract surgery after penetrating keratoplasty for keratoconus: UDVA = 0,8, SE=-0,3D was achieved 1 month after surgery.
Conclusions:
Rayner T-flex Rayner T-flex aspheric toric IOL implantation is an effective and reliable option to correct corneal astigmatism in cataract and refractive surgery. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
