Abstract Details

Purpose:

Evaluate refractive results after cataract surgery in patients with previous lasik and RK/AK with different intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation methods

Setting:

Hospital Clinic Barcelona

Methods:

Three patients with prior history of lasik or photorefractive keratectomy and RK/AK were operated of cataract by phacoemulsification and IOL implant Refractive results were discussed after IOL power calculation by different methods; Prior clinical history, ASCRS IOL calculator and IOL calculation by intraoperative refraction

Results:

First case: LASIK and AK/RK (4 incisions), method used: ASCRS calculator. Target SE -0.5D. Final refraction: -0.75 -075 85 Second case: LASIK and RK (8 incisions), method used: ASCRS calculator and previous clinical history. Target SE -0.2D. Final refraction: +0.5 -0.25 125° Third case: LASIK and AK/RK (12 incisions), method used: IOL calculation by intraoperative refraction. Target SE -0.3. Final refraction: 0 -0.5 60º

Conclusions:

The three IOL calculation methods used are similiar in terms of refractive results, despite they used different approaches FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
