Current cataract surgery in the Czech Republic

Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evalute the incidence and type of cataract surgery in the Czech Republic
Setting:
Eye clinc, University Hospital Ostrava, Czech Republic
Methods:
Questionnaire with 14 questions was sent to all 75 eye departments providing cataract surgery. Answers were processed by using modern statistical methods
Results:
Data from 63 departments show that phacoemulsification was the prefered technique of more than 99% respondents. There was an increase in the number of foldable IOLs. Out patients surgery was provided in more than 92% cases.
Conclusions:
There is evident that phacoemulsification with foldable IOL implantation and out patient surgery is favorit method of cataract surgery in the Czech Republic FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
