Abstract Details
Purpose:
IOL A-constant customization is an important step to improve final refraction results after cataract surgery.
Setting:
Ophthalmology Service - Hospital Parc Salut Mar - Barcelona - Spain
Methods:
To archieve the customized A- contant 10 to 25 cataratous eyes should be operated and post operative refraction together with implanted IOL power, keratometry and axial length must be obtained.
IOL A-constant customization is calculated to cancel sistematic errors in IOL calculation such as biometric or keratometric error datas, surgeron factors such as capsulorhexis perfomances, sistematic sulcus IOL implantation, etc.
To get the appropriate results the surgeron, IOL model, formulae used in IOL calculation and biometric equipments should be the same in all cases.
Results:
This results are obteined for CROMA EYECEE ONE IOL. This IOL have been implanted in 25 eyes and the average calculated customized A- constant was 119,89 (minimun of 117,44 and máximum of 123.78).
The ACD (anterior chamber depth) equivalences for this value was 6.06 mm (mínimum of 4.63 mm and máximum of 8.33mm).
The manufacturer ultrasonic sugested A-constant is 118,4 and 118,7 for IOL master A-constant. When using SRK-T theoretic formulae the manufacturer sugested IOLmaster A-constant is 119,2.
Conclusions:
To avoid refrative surprises when using CROMA EYE-CEEONE IOL each surgeron must recalculate his/her own A-contant. In our operated cases we have found a gap of 0,69 between our calculated IOL master SRK-T A-constant and manufacturer sugested A-constant for same formulae (119,89 vs 119,2). FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
