Abstract Details
Purpose:
Clinical evaluation of long term functional results and quality of vision after implantation of a bioanalogic, polyfocal intraocular lens WIOL-CF
Setting:
Department of Ophthalmology, Hospital Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic
Department of Ophthalmology, Hospital Most, Czech Republic
Department of Ophthalmology, Hospital Strakonice, Czech Republic
Methods:
Patients with WIOL-CF polyfocal, bioanalogic intraocular lens implanted binocularly or monocularly more than 2 year ago were invited to follow-up examinations, including uncorrected and corrected visual acuity for far, near (40cm) and intermediate (70cm) distances, subjective refraction and comorbidities/complications in medical history. The slit lamp examination and iTrace wavefront aberrometry was performed. The quality of vision, glare, halos, spectacle independence and the personal satisfaction(NEI-VFQ25) of the patients was assessed with a questionnaires.
Results:
40 patients (51 eyes) from 3 centres in this multicentre, prospective study were enrolled. Study results demonstrate stable and very good VA for far and intermediate vision and near vision within range of social reading for majority of patients. The iTrace wavefront aberrometry examination with far and near stimuli prove dynamic changes in refraction in more than 70% of patients. Objective measurements are confirmed by high subjective satisfaction and spectacle independence.
Conclusions:
Results demonstrate mid- long term efficacy, stability and safety of the WIOL-CF intraocular lens. Polyfocal intraocular lens provides excellent and predictable VA for far and intermediate vision and near vision within range of social reading for majority of patients. These results are a base for high patient satisfaction and spectacle independence rates.
