Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate near-, intermediate- and distance visual acuity post implantation of a trifocal intraocular lens (IOL).

Setting:

Dpt. of Ophthalmology, Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany

Methods:

Prospective inclusion of patients post fs-laser assisted lens surgery (LenSx, Alcon) and implantation of a trifocal lens (AT LISA tri839MP, Zeiss). Main ixclusion criteria were corneal astigmatism <1.5D and any potentially visual relevant pathology. Refraction, visual acuity in 40cm, 80cm and 4m, contrast sensitivity and patient satisfaction were evaluated three month postoperatively.

Results:

Preliminary results of 19 patients. Subjective spherical equivalent was 0.00±0.35D, astigmatism 0.31±0.32D. Binocular UDVA in 40cm, 80cm and 4m were 0.1± 0.1logMAR, 0.1±0.3logMAR und 0.0±0.1logMAR, binocular DCVA 0.1±0.0logMAR, 0.0±0.1logMAR und -0.1±0.1logMAR. On a scale from 1 (very satisfied) to 6 (not satisfied at all) patients rated their satisfaction for distance, intermediate and near tasks with 1,8±1,1, 1,8±0,8 and 2,1±1,1.

Conclusions:

Femtosecond laser assisted lens surgery with implantation of a trifocal intraocular lens showed good visual acuity results in all distances and high patient satisfaction.
