Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare the postoperative changes in effective lens position(ELP) between microincision and small incision group
Setting:
Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Science, College of Medicine, Catholic University of Korea, Seoul, Korea
Methods:
This prospective randomized study comprised 46 eyes with age-related cataract from October 2013 to February 2014. All patients had standardized cataract surgery by same operator. The patients grouped into microincision group(2.2mm) and small incision group(2.75mm). Pentacam TNP(True net power) 3mm zone K value was measured at preoperative and postoperative in all patients, and we compared the difference. ELP measurements during the first 2 postoperative months were performed using scheimpflug (Pentacam®) in both group, we compare the measurement with preoperative predictive ELP value.
Results:
In microincision group, mean change of Pentacam TNP(True Net Power) 3mm zone K was 1.07±0.94D. In small incision group, mean absolute change of Pentacam TNP 3mm zone K was 1.29±0.86D. K value change in both group shows no statistically significant difference.(p value=0.20) Average error from ELP measurement to preoperative predictive ELP value in microincision group was 1.07±0.94 mm. Average error in small incision group was 1.29±0.86 mm, it also shows no statistically significant difference.(p value=0.48). But mean change of Pentacam TNP 3mm zone K correlates with average error of ELP value.(p value=0.04)
Conclusions:
Average error from ELP measurement to preoperative predictive ELP value following incision length shows no significant difference. So we prospect there is no significant difference for the refractive predictive value in both group. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
