Analysis of CCC center for IOL centration during femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery

Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare parameters of continuous curvilinear capsulorrhexis for centering of intraocular lens(IOL) during Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery.
Setting:
Catholic Medical Center, korea
Methods:
This is a retrospective study of 50 consecutive cases of Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery procedures performed between November, 2013 and February, 2014 in Seoul Saint Mary's hospital. Snapping shots were gained to compare center of CCC with center of dilating pupil and scanned pupil. Post-operative shots with dilated pupil within one-week, one-month and two-month visits were reviewed. Between-group differences parameters and predictors of IOL decentration were determined with Pearson correlation.
Results:
The distance between center of IOL and CCC was closer in group with center of scanned pupil one week and one month post-operatively(P<005). However, the distance between center of dilating pupil and CCC was not significantly correlated with the distance between center of CCC and IOL(P=0.728). Postoperative two months, the result was same as above.
Conclusions:
During Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, scanned pupil center can help improve centration of the posterior chamber intraocular lens in the short term follow up. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
