Long-term results of primary posterior capsulorhexis operations as a way to prevent secondary cataract

Abstract Details



Purpose:

Evaluate long-term results of primary posterior capsulorhexis as an effective safe method of preventing secondary cataract performed during phacoemulsification (FEC) complicated cataract or age at implantation of any models of intraocular lenses (IOL).

Setting:

FSBI 'The Acad. S.N. Fedorov Eye Microsurgery Complex' Novosibirsk Branch

Methods:

In the period 2011 - 2014 years. was performed by the FEC 270 age-related cataract varying maturity using technology MICS. All patients during surgery before or after implantation of various models IOL posterior capsulorhexis was made with a diameter of 3.0 - 4.5 mm.

Results:

All patients had high postoperative visual acuity in the early postoperative period and in terms of up to three years. According to the optical coherence tomography (OCT ) , a month after the operation, a snug fit of the posterior capsule and anterior vitreous membrane to the rear surface of the IOL also noted signs of the emergence of cells Adamyuk - Elshniga zone made capsulorhexis . The central zone of the retina has also remained unchanged.

Conclusions:

Primary posterior capsulorhexis performed during the FEC is a safe surgical procedure provides high visual function in early and late postoperative period and can be considered a reliable method of preventing the development of secondary cataract . FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
