Sclera suturing in subluxed lOL

Abstract Details



Purpose:

To evaluate the course and visual outcome after sclera suturing one haptic of the IOL in a patient with subluxed lens

Setting:

Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital Of Larissa, Greece

Methods:

A 74-year-old man presented with decreased vision, edge glare, diplopia, streaks of light, haloes, photosensitivity, and ghost images his right eye over the past weeks. He had had an cataract surgery in ten years ago and three-piece IOL implantation. Slit=-amp examination a nasally subluxed IOL. He was decided to undergo temporal sclera suturing of the subluxed haptic part of the IOL, creating sclera pocket.

Results:

IOL was well centered after sclera suturing. Visual symptoms were diminished and final visual acuity was 10/10 cc sph +2.00 cyl + 2.25 x 30ο.

Conclusions:

Sclera suturing one out of two haptics in subluxed IOL provide excellent anatomical restoration and good visual outcomes. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
