Abstract Details
Purpose:
To describe a simplified ab-interno cow-hitch suture fixation technique for repositioning dislocated posterior chamber intraocular lens (PC IOL).
Setting:
Surgical technique, Ondokuz Mayıs University, Department of Ophthalmology
Methods:
Three cases are presented with the surgical correction of decentered and subluxated IOL. Ab-interno scleral suture fixation technique with cow-hitch suture in the eye was performed and a minimum follow-up of 6 months was completed. One eye had decentered in-the-bag PC IOL and two eyes had decentered sulcus positioned PC IOLs.
Results:
All of three patients had well centered lenses postoperatively. Corrected distant and near visual acuities of the patients were improved. There was no significant postoperative complication. One eye developed temporarily increased IOP but treated medically. In the follow-up period of 6 to 16 months, no evidence of suture erosion was found.
Conclusions:
Ab-interno scleral suture loop fixation with cow-hitch suture in the eye is effective in repositioning decentered or subluxated PC IOLs with excellent postoperative centered lenses and visual outcomes. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
