Abstract Details
Purpose:
This study calculates optimized A constant with Verion® image guided system to the new Alcon Clareon® SY60WF IOL.
Setting:
In this single surgeon study with experience of over 1000 Alcon Clareon® SY60WF (Alcon) IOLs implanted, a standard cataract surgery was performed in Medilaser LCC, Finland.
Methods:
The lens A constants were automatically computed by the Verion image guided system (Alcon). IOLMaster 500 (Carl Zeiss Meditec) optical biometry and SRK/T formula was used for IOL power selection. The manufacturers provided A constant was 119.1. IOL power range was from 8 to 25 dioptria (D). 2.75 mm temporal incision was used, and the IOL was implanted into the capsular bag. Both Alcon Monarch III with C-cartridge and Alcon AutonoMe™ lens injectors were used. A stable refraction was obtained from 126 eyes of 74 patients after minimum of one-month´s follow-up. Their mean age was 74 years, 53% females.
Results:
The optimized A constant from Verion® was 119.145. The mean target refraction with the SRK/T formulae was -0.11D ± 0.26D and the mean spherical refraction error was -0.11D ± 0.42D after minimum of 1 month’s follow-up (p value 0.90), resulting mean prediction error of -0.005D ± 0.41D. Percentage of cases over ± 0.5D of target refraction was 24.6%, and cases over ± 1D of target refraction was 0.8%.
Conclusions:
The optimized A constant for SKR/T formulae was 119.145, which is close to manufacturers provided A constant. The target refraction with SKR/T formulae was similar to achieved post operative refraction, and the prediction error was very small. In clinical point of view, the attained refraction results with Alcon Clareon® SY60WF were accurate and predictable.
